Other animals, including waterfowl, fish, reptiles, and amphibians, were soon found with the same illness of the nervous system.
At this time, after nearly three decades, an international team of researchers discovered . That the death of bald eagles were caused by a toxin produced by cyanobacteria or blue-green algae. The bacteria grow on aquatic plants . It affects the animals that eat the plants as well as the predators like eagles that prey on those animals and hence it affected eagles.

The researchers call their discovery after so much research aetokthontoxin, which means “poison that kills the eagle”.
The murderer was not only caught by the researchers. But also the weapon that was used in the killing of bald eagles. Many other species have been found named the Cyanobacteria.
The problem might be made worse by herbicides that are used to treat those plants . It maybe it was already so worse that it was difficult handling it . e have lost so many iconic bald eagles, fishes, and some reptiles too.
